Today the "Research and Oversight of AI in Courts Act of 2026" was introduced in Congress with NCRA’s support. The proposed legislation is bipartisan and bicameral and was introduced by Sen. Roger Wicker of Mississippi, Sen. Peter Welch of Vermont, and Rep. Harriet Hageman of Wyoming.

As courts explore AI and ASR technologies, the bill would establish critical oversight mechanisms to ensure accuracy, security, and due process are never compromised.
